Obituary for Zvonka Antonia "Tony" Ambrozic

Zvonka Antonia (Tony) Ambrozic

(nee Zorko)

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Mother, Zvonka Ambrozic, on January 23, 2015, at St. Boniface Hospital, with her family by her side.

Mom will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Diane and son, Robert. Mom will also be missed by our loving pet Angelina Jollie, whose loving companionship brought mom great comfort and joy.

Mom was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia and immigrated to Canada in the 1950’s.

In the early 1960’s she was employed by Furby Motors as an accounts receivable/payable, payroll clerk. In 1978, she was employed with the River East School Division, Board Office as an accounts receivable/payable, payroll clerk. Mom loved all aspects of her job, but due to declining health left the position in 1991.

Mom truly enjoyed socializing with her extended family and close friends. She especially enjoyed her weekly breakfast outings with her dear friend and neighbor Wilma. Mom also had a passion for the arts. She enjoyed attending performances by the WSO and the RWB. Mom also looked forward to attending Breanna and Sarah’s annual dance performances. She even enjoyed a hockey game or two because one of the star players was Drew.

Mom demonstrated tremendous strength and resiliency throughout the years. With some assistance from family and friends mom was fortunate enough to remain in the home that she loved until her passing. Although mom is no longer with us, she will remain in our hearts forever.

A heart felt thank you to Fran Mulhall and family for all the love and unwavering support throughout the years.

The family would like to thank the first responders, Dr. Allan Schaeffer, emergency and ICU staff, at the St. Boniface Hospital.

In keeping with Mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private Memorial Service Celebrating Her Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mom’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3L 0K6 or to a charity of your choice.
