Obituary for Yvonne Marie Estelle Trottier

YVONNE MARIE ESTELLE TROTTIER
April 26, 1941 – December 4, 2020

We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved sister Yvonne at Actionmarguerite (St. Vital) Inc, yet we are relieved her courageous 10 year struggle with Alzheimer's Disease has ended.

Yvonne is survived by her brothers Raymond Trottier (Bonnie), Phil Trottier (Patricia), brother-in-law Ruddick Renaud, sisters Claire Kljucec (Ned), Denise Pancoe (Glen), Michele Coutts (Richard) and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces-nephews. She also left behind many good friends from British Columbia to Ontario and especially valued the love, hospitality and friendship of Lorraine and Bill Coveny and their sons in Ottawa.

She was predeceased by her parents Berthe and Elie Trottier, “Tante” Yvonne Hervo, sister Jacqueline Renaud, nephew Marc Renaud and sister Marie who died at birth.

Yvonne started her working life with MacLeods Hardware in Winnipeg but dedicated the majority of her career to Imperial Oil in Ottawa and Toronto. She was a highly regarded and valued employee and showing up for work an hour or more early was one of her hallmarks. At times she would step outside of her job description to personally and successfully appeal to (collect!) overdue accounts.

A persistent woman with a strong sense of justice, Yvonne once successfully sued a major automobile manufacturer. Having signed a NDA her sense of right and wrong prevented her from ever disclosing the terms of the settlement even long after retirement!

Nieces, nephews, pets, friends and family were privileged to experience the love and dedication of this babysitter, house sitter, dog sitter, nanny, “ironer” extraordinaire!

Some of her many and varied interests included travel, volunteerism at St. Timothy's Church, curling, golf, bowling, baseball, walking, YM-YWCA and of course a good game of Bridge. It was always fun to see that mischievous glint in her eye as she slapped down the card preventing the opponents’ victory.
We extend our great appreciation to staff at “Despins” and “Actionmarguerite (St. Vital) Inc” for their love, compassion and exemplary care of our sister. Their empathy was second to none.

Yvonne, you fought a good fight and it’s now time to rest in peace and celebrate in heaven along with mom, dad and the rest of the family. We share the sentiments expressed in a note from Chris Coveny: “Goodbyes are only for those that love with their eyes. Because for those who love with their heart and soul there is no separation.” (Remi)
