Obituary for William Henry Scott

WILLIAM HENRY SCOTT

February 4, 1929 ? November 15, 2012

William Henry Scott (known as Bill or Scotty to his friends) and twin brother Bob (Scott) came into the world on February 4, 1929. Bill, Bob and younger brother John (Scott) kept their mother and father Evelyn and Jack (Scott) busy trying to figure out what they boys were up to in the family home on Morley Avenue in Winnipeg. As one of the ?Morley Avenue Boys?, Bill was definitely involved in hijinks with great times had by all!

Working as a gardener in Assiniboine Park was the start of a long career with the City of Winnipeg. Bill loved his job and the people that he worked with, whether he was designing a park or overseeing the crews who made his designs reality.

Work kept him busy, but having twin daughters Bobbie (Dukelow) and Jackie (Scott) with wife Pat (Scott) kept him even busier! Now the action moved to Clare Avenue, with memorable times had by ?the Scotts the Campbells and the Tates? (remember the mortgage burning party?).

Later in life, after Pat?s passing, Bill had the wonderful good fortune to meet Rose (Scott). They eloped, and the ?rest is history?…. Instantly the family grew to include her son Gerry (Hunker) and his partner Nicole (Whyte).

In addition to changes in the family, it was time for travel! Bill and Rose had many years of great times in Portugal, Osoyoos B.C., and at the cottage in Grand Marais. Bill and Rose?s home base continued to be Winnipeg, as ?Papa and Oma?s? presence was required at family gatherings by grandchildren Robert (Dukelow), Myles, Shea and Roan (Hunker).

Throughout his life, the Fort Rouge Curling Club was a very special place to Bill; a place to curl and socialize with family and friends. Curling, designing curling draws and playing bridge with the gang at the club on Tuesdays were things that he truly enjoyed.

In keeping with Bill?s wishes, cremation has taken place and a funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street. Flowers are gratefully declined, if friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Bill to a charity of one?s choice.

What a journey! What a life!

Scotty, we love you and will miss you greatly.
