Obituary for Walter Nolin

WALTER NOLIN
April 11, 1946 - June 4, 2021

With profound sadness and heartbreak, we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend Walter at the age of 75.

Left to cherish his memory are his children Darren (Anne-Marie), Delaina, and Aaron (Lauren), his grandchildren Aneesa, Brielle and Curtis, his brothers and sisters, Glen (Pat), Gisele, Shirley (Eugene), Rene, Ernie (Darlene), Helen (Peter), Jeannette (Jamie), Don (Marianne), Ray (Annette), Archie (Lana), Fred, Florence, sister-in-law Paulette and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Anthony and Irene and his brothers Eddy, Arthur and Philip.

He was the oldest of 16 children and at an early age learned about responsibility and that he had to work hard. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren and was always willing to listen and offer guidance and advice at any time. Walter was experienced in many fields of work mostly pertaining to construction including landscaping, siding and a City of Winnipeg job maintaining and cutting trees. After leaving the City of Winnipeg he continued providing tree services on his own. He had a great passion for horses and especially horse racing and spent many summers at the Assiniboia Downs racetrack where he had also invested in a few racehorses. He always managed to keep busy working beyond retirement years. He maintained the property at the Nicolett Hotel and also helped with other odd jobs there for many years. If He wasn’t at home, he could often be found playing bingo at the local community centres where he created many lasting friendships.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our friends and families for their compassion, support and love through this difficult time.

‘Dad, you will be greatly missed and remain in our hearts forever.’
