Obituary for Velma Isabell Scott (Kilpatrick)
VELMA ISABELL SCOTT
Sadly, Velma Isabell Scott passed away peacefully December 20, 2022 with her entire family sharing her dream to be reunited with Archie.
Velma leaves behind to remember her dearly: daughter Diane Mokosch - Laura and Terry Mehrer, Kathryn and Lyndon cousins, Julie and Ben Timms. Daughter Bev and Ritz Reynolds - Cynthia and Jim Weinkauf, Pam and Ira Altman, Scott and Melissa Reynolds. Son John Scott - John and Allison Scott. Son David Scott and Sharon Stevens.
Velma is also survived by her sister Doris Howard - Daphne and Harry, Linda and Al, brother Doug Kilpatrick - Carroll and Andrew Harvey, Keith and Lorellee Kilpatrick. Ken and Marilynne Waithman and Deborah Schadek.
Predeceased by her loving husband Archie Scott, her parents Basil and Beatrice Kilpatrick sister Eileen and Doug Waithman, Roger Howard, Al Schadek, Trudy Kilpatrick and Joanne Scott.
Velma was born on a farm in Chapple Corners and spent some of her childhood in and around Barwick and Fort Francis, Ontario, with a fur trading uncle and an adventurous family. She attended Gordon Bell High School in Winnipeg and married Archie on February 4, 1947. The family lived at 804 Beresford Ave. by McKittrick Park where bowling at Park Alleys, curling at the Fort Rouge Curling Club and volunteering at Lord Roberts Community Centre and Rosedale United Church became regular activities. In 1971 they moved when it was decided they would retire to travel, golf and fish. Velma loved the Winnipeg Canoe Club and played tennis and golf there for many years before joining the Niakwa Golf Course where she managed to get two holes in one on the 8th hole.
With the majority of her four children and seven grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren living in the West Velma spent a great deal of time travelling and visiting.
Velma had many longtime friends including Marybeth and Jim Anderson, Claudette Blanchette and Nicole. Special thanks to Deb Schadek who spent countless hours visiting and supporting Velma these past difficult years. Mom will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
