Obituary for Thomas William Lamont

Thomas William Lamont
March 27, 1943 – July 27, 2021

On Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at Riverview Health Centre, Thomas William Lamont passed away at the age of 78 years.

Thom was predeceased by his parents Bill and Peggy and his birth mom Constance Bennett.

Besides his wife Linda of 54 years, he is survived by his two sons Mark and wife Darlene and Neil and wife Marlyn; three grandchildren Duncan, Heather, and Owen Lamont; brother Lloyd and wife Gladys; sister Patricia Adamson and husband Bob; nieces, nephews, several brothers-in-law, and his special cousin Leslie Hossack of Ottawa.

Thom worked as an accountant for many Winnipeg firms but his 10 plus years at the Independent Living Resource Centre (IRLC) provided him with so many wonderful experiences in addition to his accounting responsibilities.

Thom and his family enjoyed many trips together, especially to Scotland, Portugal, Mexico and Disney World.

Thom enjoyed following the Winnipeg Jets, and Blue Bombers. The Winnipeg Fury Soccer was especially dear to him. He took great pride officiating the games as a linesman. He spent his spare time officiating amateur soccer games and teaching young referees the tricks of the trade. He volunteered with the Manitoba Soccer Association for over 20 years. He was also a dedicated volunteer at Vince Leigh Community Centre, and Disabled Sail Manitoba.

Cremation has already taken place. A private internment will take place at a later date.

The family would like to thank all the attending doctors, nurses and support staff at Riverview Health Centre for their assistance and gentle care during this difficult time. A special thank you to the St Boniface Palliative team and home care staff who assisted Thom while he was still at home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Thomas to CancerCare Manitoba.
