Obituary for Stewart Paul Eggie

Stewart Paul Eggie

Stewart Paul Eggie passed peacefully from this world to his heavenly home on Sunday, January 1, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family. Stewart was known for his mischievous smile and unending charm. Stewart had a genuine curiosity about people. He could strike up a conversation with almost anyone. His kindness and gentle nature were felt by all who knew him.

Stewart Paul Eggie was born on September 19, 1948, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to David and Grace Eggie, and raised on a farm in Mossbank, Saskatchewan. Stewart worked various jobs over the years, including managing the Kmart in Moose Jaw, where he met his first wife Carol (Bast) Eggie. Stewart was a proud father to four children from that marriage, including Troy, Trent, Tracey, and Travis. The family moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba and settled there. Stewart loved being a father, and eventually a grandfather.

He enjoyed taking family trips and found joy in doing the simple things like taking his kids and grandkids to the zoo. After Carol’s passing, Stewart entered a new chapter in his life and continued to ride the open road as a truck driver for Len Dubois Trucking. He enjoyed seeing the sights in Canada and the United States.
Eventually, Stewart found love again. Stewart married Lorraine (Oliviero) Eggie in 2016 and not only did he gain a partner in life, but two more sons Richard and Norman and even more family!
No matter if you were an in-law, a step, or blood relative, there was no difference to Stewart. We all know he believed the more, the merrier! Stewart and Lorraine enjoyed traveling together, gardening, and hosting family gatherings. In the past year, as Stewart experienced more challenges to his health, Lorraine cared for him faithfully and lovingly. They were a team until the end.

Stewart is survived by his wife Lorraine (Oliviero) Eggie; his children Troy (Lisa) Eggie, Trent Eggie, Tracey (Wayne) Patterson, Travis (Leslee Webb) Eggie, Richard (Joanne) Gautron, Norman (Stephanie) Gautron; his grandchildren Kathryn, Tyler, Kaylee, Michael, Matthew, Kiana (Zach), Jocelyn, Hudson, Harper, Délia, Jesse, Jase and Bryce; his sister Helen Ryane (Jane); sisters-in-law Dorothy Read, Darlene Ward, Betty (Dale) Stoner, Donna (Ron) Steier, Simonne (Antonio) Labossiere, Thérèse (Rodney) Crampton, Monique (Michel) Labossiere, Suzanne (Richard) Fay, Carole (Rodger) Field; brother-in-law Larry Major; father-in-law Bill Bast; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Stewart is predeceased by his parents David and Grace Eggie; his wife Carol Eggie; sisters Mary Nurse and Isabel Read; brother James Eggie; mothers-in-law Jean Bast and Isabelle Oliviero; sister-in-law Lucille Major; brothers-in-law Ken Nurse and Derek Read.

A private memorial service will be held at the St. Vital Cemetary on Thursday, January 5th, 2023.
