Obituary for Rose Helen Bidulka (Zdrill)

ROSE HELEN BIDULKA
July 28, 1929 – August 25, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Rose, announce her departure from this earth, so that she may rejoin her predeceased husband, Morris; eldest daughter, Elizabeth; brothers, Peter, Frank, Stanley, and John; and her sisters, Albina, Polly, and Sophie.

Rose is survived by her children, Jerome (Janora), Marvin (Linda), Jim (Karen), Evelyn (Brett); grandchildren, Kyle (Lisa), Chris (Jolene), Mason (Brooke), Logan (Presley), Andrea (Nolan), Dylan, Marie (Brian), Daniel (Teri). Rose lived to fulfill her dream of being a great grandmother to Kaitlyn, Lauren, Linkoln, Nixon, Savanah, Kayden, David, Isla, Avery, Kaiden, Claire, and Ryan. She also leaves to mourn, countless relatives and family friends throughout western and central Canada.

Mom was born and raised on the family farm near Strong Pine, Saskatchewan, and met Morris while they were both employed at Burns Meats. They married and settled in Prince Albert, in 1977 Burns Meats offered Morris a transfer to Edmonton, so Morris, Rose and their youngest children moved to the Londonderry area. Once again, Morris got offered a transfer to Winnipeg, Rose followed her husband to what one day would be her final resting place. In Winnipeg she was dutifully employed at the Winnipeg Tribune and Brook Bond Foods.

Regardless of the pains she may have felt from part time work and being a full-time wife and mom, she always had a story to tell too anyone who would listen. Her favorite time away from work was picking blueberries and mushrooms. As kids this was not our favorite pastime, but in hindsight, it was a lot of fun. She loved her faith, and her church. Rose made the best perogies, and she knitted hats and mitts for the underprivileged so that they would not go without. Love you mom until we meet again.

In keeping with Rose’s wishes, a funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Bernadette Roman Catholic Church, 820 Cottonwood Road, with viewing one hour prior.

In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Rose may be made to the Arthritis Society of Canada.
