Obituary for Rosalie Eliza Levasseur

Rosalie Eliza Levasseur

(nee Letendre)

February 12, 1934 – January 28, 2015

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Rosalie on Wednesday, January 28th at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 80 years.

She leaves behind to mourn; her brother Clare Letendre, her son Clare Dickinson (Jennifer), three grandchildren: Miranda Boland (Paul) and Tyler and Tanner Dickinson. She was predeceased by her husband Henri Levasseur in 2013, her brother Paul in 2008 and her parents Rupert and Susan Letendre.

Rosalie was born in St. Boniface and spent her teenage years attending St. Mary’s Academy. She started a career with The Canada Revenue Agency, Taxation Department, and was eventually transferred to Ontario. It was there that she gave birth to her only son Clare in Oakville, ON in 1970. After a move back to Winnipeg in 1973 to be closer to family, she obtained a job with The Province of Manitoba as an Aboriginal Court Communicator, where she remained until her retirement.

Rosalie’s love for gardening and animals kept her busy during her retirement years. It was during those years that she ran into her childhood sweetheart, Henri (Hank) Levasseur and they eventually went on to marry in January of 2003. They shared 10 wonderful years together before his passing and she fondly remembered those as the best of her life.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society in Rosalie’s memory.

In keeping with Rosalie’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street.
