It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Rolland Pascal Alberola on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at the age of 84 years.
Rolland was the beloved husband of the late Christiane. Left to cherish his memory are his four sons: Dominique (Kathleen), Serge (Stephanie), Yves (Lynn) and Alex (Alicia), as well as his grandchildren: Christopher, Mathew (Amber), Aaron, Adrien, Stephane, Kassondra, Anthony, Tamera, Tanesha, Jonathan (Mychèle), Jeremie (Kamalpreet), Émilie, Sarah, Kaitlyn and Colin. Also left to mourn are his four brothers and their families.
Dad was born on September 15, 1929 in Lamoricière, Algeria. He grew up on the family farm in Morocco. He went on to meet the love of his life, Christiane and in 1956 they wed. They immigrated to France in 1962 and then again in 1967 to Canada, settling in Manitoba with their four boys. Dad worked as a field mechanic in various farming communities.
Years later the family moved to Winnipeg where dad joined CN, working there until his retirement in 1994. Dad and mom enjoyed travelling and seeing many parts of Canada and the United States.
Dad was very passionate about his heritage, helping to organize many events held at L?UNION NATIONAL FRANCAISE, Winnipeg Spanish Club and Folklorama Pavilion.
The family wishes to extend our gratitude to the staff of Actionmarguerite for the care and compassion shown to dad during his stay.
In keeping with dad?s wishes, cremation has taken place and a service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street.
