Obituary for Rodger Campbell "Cam" Dale

ROGER CAMPBELL (CAM) DALE

May 7, 1954 – June 7, 2019

It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Rodger Campbell (Cam) Dale on Friday, June 7, 2019, after a short battle with cancer.

Cam was predeceased by his parents: Alan Frederick Dale and Lois Margaret Dale (Feader); uncle Leslie Allen and aunt Anne Allen (Feader) who were like second parents. Cam is survived by his wife Adele, of 42 years; two children: son Michael (Brenna) and son Joseph (Stephanie). He is also survived by his sister Alana (Bruce), and nieces: Kelsey (Harry), Carman (Bobby), great-niece Hattie and great-nephew Levi; and nephew David.

Cam was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and was raised in Windsor Park where he could be found playing hockey late into the night and spending time with his two close friends Paul and Tom. Cam started with Air Canada when he was 21 years old, where he worked as a Cargo Accounting Officer. This is eventually where he would meet his wife Adele and they began their lifelong love of travelling together; his favourite place to travel was England. Cam continued to play hockey for most of his life, including as player #5 on the Air Canada Flyers hockey team.

Cam’s love of music resulted in a vast collection of records, CD’s, tapes and many concert tickets. Cam was a fan of football; his favourite team was Manchester City. Cam’s passion for aviation led him to volunteer as a Gold Wing Ambassador at the Winnipeg Airport after his retirement from Air Canada; he would commonly greet friends and family at their gates as they travelled which was always a nice surprise and will be missed. Cam would always be found looking up at the skies to name each plane that flew overhead. Cam was a lifelong blood donor, where he donated selflessly over 200 times.

We would like to express heartfelt thanks to the CancerCare team at Victoria General Hospital, as well as the paramedics, doctors, nurses and ICMS care team at the St. Boniface Hospital.

As per Cam’s request, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
