Obituary for Robert Norman Nash

Robert Norman Nash (April 10, 1954 - July 18, 2023) didn’t want an obituary placed in the newspaper. An exquisite jokester, he always wanted and typically earned the last laugh. So please take pause, let out a chuckle on Nash’s behalf, and let us (his family) share this obituary.

A charismatic, boisterous and extremely memorable person, “Nash” grew up with his exuberant siblings Bill, David, Lorie and Fred in Winnipeg’s St. Vital, spending summers at the family cottage on Lake Winnipeg’s Sunset Beach.

After joining Delta Upsilon fraternity and almost graduating from the University of Manitoba, he embarked on a truly epic love story with his wife Cynthia, spending 47 years married and fiercely dedicated to each other.

Always the jetsetter, Nash lived in Winnipeg, San Diego, Corpus Christi, Vancouver and Nanaimo, where he and Cynthia proudly raised their triplet sons Tory, Barrett and Reston (Katrina). Most recently, he lived in beautiful Departure Bay and reveled in being Grandpa to Charlie.

Professionally, Nash was an incredible provider, using his gift of the gab, eye for style and entrepreneurial spirit to pursue a sales career as a fashion manufacturer’s agent, while also running a successful side hustle in residential real estate development.

A dedicated fan of adventure, loudly singing in the shower, family reunions, ham, beverages with friends and well-intentioned mischief, Nash will be sorely missed. His larger-than-life personality and infectious spirit will surely live on through his family and friends.

The Nash family shares their gratitude to the MICU team at Winnipeg’s Health Sciences Centre who treated Nash after his accidental head injury, and the amazing Transplant Manitoba’s Gift of Life team, who coordinated the donation of his kidneys.

Cheers to you Nash!
