Obituary for Ricky Van Charette

.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ricky Van Charette on Thursday November 9, 2023.

Taken away too soon, Rick leaves to mourn his loss, his children, Jamie (Jasmine), Ginger, and Darcy; ten grandchildren; seven brothers and sisters; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his parents Oril and Hilda Charette, and his nephews Nick & Shane.

Rick was born on June 21,1957 at St. Boniface Hospital. He grew up in Woodridge, Manitoba alongside his parents and siblings. From an early age, Rick liked to earn his own money to buy the things he wanted like his new bicycle. Growing up he worked for a local forester, before eventually becoming a skidder operator in the forestry industry in Ontario for numerous years.

Rick loved and participated in recreational sports. He was always a natural athlete. He also loved cheering on his Bombers and Winnipeg Jets.

On any given opportunity, Rick could enter a room crack a joke and have everyone in stitches. It didn’t matter if it was the same joke he told before, he always had a way of putting a new twist on it. As a young boy, Rick would entertain house guests or local talent nights with his rendition of “Honky Tonk Man” and “From a Jack to a King”. Ricks Chili was the best and definitely worth a mention, as well.

In the late 90’s, Rick made Winnipeg his permanent home, where he worked as a mover for his cousin & friend Gary until his retirement last year.

The Family would like to thank the Winnipeg Police and Paramedic Services, along with the HSC staff for all their efforts and support.

Rick, Our Dad, Brother and Friend Thank you for the memories, the generosity, and the laughs.

Rick - You are an Unforgettable Man.

Please Feel free to wear your Winnipeg Jet or Blue Bombers Swag to the service. Rick would have loved that. The service will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., at Coutu Funeral Home located at 680 Archibald street, Winnipeg, Manitoba.

A private family interment will follow at a later date.
