Obituary for Rheal Phillipe Henri Lesage

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rheal Phillipe Henri Lesage, age 44, on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, peacefully surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Rheal was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on November 2, 1979, to Gerard and Lucille Lesage. He attended school in Notre Dame de Lourdes and then St. Claude, Manitoba, where he graduated in 1997. Rheal went on to pursue his passion for computers at the University of Manitoba. His extensive knowledge of technology led him to work at Powerland Computers and with the Federal Government-shared services assigned to the recruiting centre of the Department of National Defense, then with the RCMP division D. He married the love of his life and best friend, Laura in Cuba. Together, they had 2 children, Kyla, and Nathalie. They built their dream home on an acreage in Lorette. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Rheal. He loved a quiet evening around a campfire, camping, hiking, playing board games, cooking, visiting zoos and travelling with his family, participating in Pinja with Nathalie, playing games, and discussing all things fantasy and medieval with Kyla. His calm and pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met, and he was always there to help family and friends.

Rheal will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Laura; daughters Kyla and Nathalie; parents, Gerard and Lucille Lesage; siblings Janine Smart, Luc (Crystal) Lesage, and Anita (Sean) Prawdzik; nieces and nephews Dylan, Kristin, Chloe, Cashton, Paige, and Callie; grandfather, Henri Lesage; grandmother, Mathilde Fifi; mother-in-law Margaret Keillor; brothers-in-law Daniel, Brian, and Kenneth (Rebecca); nieces and nephews Devon, Selina, and Liam and numerous other uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. He is predeceased by his grandmother, Roma Lesage; grandfather, Jean Fifi; brother-in-law, Gary Smart; and father-in-law Percy Keillor.

We would like to thank to all the doctors at CancerCare who helped take excellent care of Rheal. A special thank you to Jillian Plett, the palliative nurse, who supported us in our journey to ensure Rheal could stay home.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the TC Energy Centre, 1 Rivard St. Suite 204D, Iles-des-ChĂȘnes.

In lieu of flowers, a trust fund has been established for Kyla and Nathalie at the Caisse Populaire. Deposits can be made at the Lorette or Notre Dame branches and e-transfers can be sent to rheallesagetrust@gmail.com.
