Obituary for Pierre Joseph Adrien Lanoie

On March 22, 2024, after a long, hard fought battle with cancer, Pierre passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife and best friend, Teresa (Messner), his son Robert (Lindsay; Ayden), his daughter Rachelle (Guy; Camille and Colin). He also leaves to mourn his brother Roland, his in-laws Mike (Sue) Messner; Dan (Kathleen) Messner; Eileen (David) Jones; John (Julie) Messner; Rebecca (Bruce) Schleicher; Don (Claudette) Robert, and many nieces and nephews, including godsons Andrew Messner, Adam Jones, and Nicolas Messner
He was predeceased by his parents Raphaël and Gabrielle (nee Daoust) Lanoie, his father and mother-in-law Andrew and Gisele Messner, brother-in-law Gary Messner, sister-in-law Debbie Robert, and niece Dawn-Marie Robert.

Pierre grew up on a farm in La Salle. He later met the love of his life, Teresa. They were married in 1973 and in 2023 celebrated 50 years of marriage. In 1974, Robert was born followed by Rachelle in 1976.
In 1980, Pierre was able to realize a lifelong dream of owning a dairy farm. Pierre and Teresa farmed side-by-side for 35 years and raised steers for another 10 years, eventually selling the farm and moving to La Salle, and then Winnipeg due to failing health.

He loved his family, including his 3 grandchildren, who he was so proud of. All three were unique and were loving, caring and respecting of their Pépère. Pierre loved being with his in-laws, the Messner’s, where there were always large gatherings, suppers, and social events. I would like to thank my siblings for the many visits, flowers, meals and support. It was greatly appreciated. Pierre looked forward to all of the visits.

Pierre was a humble man and his loving family always came first for him. Pierre had a deep belief in Jesus Christ and knew the good Lord would take him in his heavenly arms. You can now rest in peace my love, Dad and Pépère. Your suffering is over.

Thank you to Drs. Zhang and Fatoye, Nurses Mary Beth, Mona, Caroline and all staff at Cancer Care, HSC and Victoria Hospitals. Thank you to Palliative nurses for all their visits to make Pierre more comfortable and their compassionate care.

A memorial service celebrating Pierre's life will be held at E.J. Coutu Funeral Home, 680 Archibald Street, on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to CancerCare Manitoba would be appreciated.

Rest in Peace
