Obituary for Monika Leigh Stanson

Monika Leigh Stanson

It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of our dear daughter and sister Monika Leigh Stanson peacefully at home, on Sunday December 5, 2021 at the age of 26.

Monika was born in Winnipeg and spent her early years in Seoul, South Korea and Hong Kong, SAR. During these years she developed a penchant for travel and experiencing other cultures. Upon return to Canada, she attended LaSalle Elementary School, St. Mary’s Academy, University of Manitoba and lastly Red River Community College to obtain her Degree in Nursing. Throughout her studies, she achieved academic success obtaining a place on the Dean’s Honour List.

Monika was employed at the Sturgeon Creek Retirement Home, where she loved working with the seniors. She also spent many years tutoring, lifeguarding and volunteering in the community.

Her passions were reading, gardening, fashion, playing with the dogs, and decorating with her mother. She also enjoyed playing baseball, ringette and swimming, where she eventually became a Certified Life Guard.

In spite of Monika’s struggle with mental health issues, she was still able to find many joys in her brief life. We would like to thank our family and friends that have helped us to navigate through these difficult times.
