Michel was born in Ottawa and did his schooling primarily in Trenton, Ottawa and Vancouver where his father was posted in the Armed Forces. He later received his CPM designation as a Certified Property Manager, was elected President of the Real Estate Institute of Manitoba and became the driving force for chapter funding.
