Obituary for Michel Roger Joseph Lavallee

Michel Lavallée
March 10, 1962 – January 15, 2024

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Michel (Mike) Lavallée on January 15, 2024.

Mike was predeceased by his father, Roger, in 1995. He leaves to mourn his Mother, Thérèse; siblings,
Jacqueline, Lise (Ed Myskiw), Jean, Arthur (Karen Wiffen), Anita Desautels, Raymond (Julie); nieces, Brianne Desautels, Nicole Lavallée, Sarah Lavallée, and nephew Owen Desautels. His loss will also be felt by his extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Mike grew up on a dairy farm in La Salle, MB. After graduating from TecVoc Collegiate, he worked towards getting his trucking licence, while employed at Cottrell Forwarding. His first trucking job was doing bulk milk pickups from dairy farms. He bought his first semi-truck in his 20s and never looked back.

He was devoted to his profession of over 35 years. He established his own business and was a contractor for different companies. Along the way, he moved all sorts of goods, including produce, meat, and anything that went in a refrigeration trailer. His work took him out west throughout the prairies and BC, to the east as far as Québec, to the US, and to the oil patch. Ironically, having grown up on a dairy farm, he started and ended his career hauling bulk milk and dairy products.

His work meant he was on the road and seldom home. That said, Mike would always be there for those special occasions and family get-togethers. He truly loved seeing his nieces and nephew grow up and become young adults. His family values were deeply ingrained.

Outside of work, he enjoyed snowmobiling in his younger days. As he got older, and was on the road for longer periods, he took up photography.

Mike carried with him many friends, some of whom were life-long friendships. His sudden passing leaves his many friends and family with a huge loss. His presence, smile and sense of humor will be deeply missed.

Our family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff at the Grace Hospital and Seven Oaks Rehab Unit.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Mike may be made to the charity of your choice.

Cremation has taken place and a funeral mass celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 1:00pm, in the St. Hyacinthe Roman Catholic Church, 27 Beaudry Street, LA Salle, MB. followed by a reception at Kingswood GCC.
