Obituary for Maurice Ernest Senecal

Maurice Ernest Senecal
June 18, 1934 – September 16, 2020

It is with deep sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of Maurice Ernest Senecal, our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, on Wednesday, September 16, 2020. After more than a five-year battle with multiple health issues, it was a blessing that he passed quickly and peacefully. We know how lucky we were to have him in our lives for the time we did but will always feel it wasn’t enough.

Remaining to forever cherish his memory are his children: Louise (Brian), Maurice, Lucie (Len), Terry (Al) and Raymond; grandchildren Mike (Meagan), Christine (Gabe), Jaclyn, Madilyn (Aaron), Michelle (Kurtis), Marc, Ashleigh, Amanda and Nicholas; great-grandchildren Sadie, Sawyer, Teagan, Connor, Jayda, Mason, Jude and Emme; step great-grandchildren Nathaniel and Daphne. He also leaves his sisters-in-law Irene and Lorraine and brother-in-law Alphonse and numerous nieces and nephews.

Maurice was predeceased by Olive, his loving wife of over 50 years; his brother Roger, sisters Doris, Gertrude, Irene and Jeannette; and his parents Andre and Antonia.

Dad was driven by a strong work ethic and a desire to take care of his family. He worked tirelessly for nearly 60 years as a carpenter until his health forced him to slow down at 80 years of age. He never retired. Almost everyone in the family, including nieces and nephews, can recall a time when he came to their house to work, straight from working his regular job.

There was nothing more important to Maurice than his family. He was proudly involved with both the Men’s Club and the Knights of Columbus at Holy Family Church, volunteering many hours, whether it was making breakfasts after Sunday Mass or helping with many construction projects. Some of his fondest memories were of his trip to the Dominican Republic with the Church to help build houses.

The family would like to thank all those who extended their support and care to Dad over the last few years, specifically the staff of Riverside Lions and Actionmarguerite St. Boniface.

Out of respect and care for everyone’s health and safety during the pandemic, and Dad’s wishes, a Funeral Mass for invited family members will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Actionmarguerite St.Boniface.

Rest in Peace Dad, Grandpa, Pepere, Great-Grandpa. We love you and are forever grateful for your love, care and support. We will always try to “stick together”. There’s a warm Old Stock waiting for you in Heaven.
