Obituary for Maurice Daeninck

Maurice Daeninck

July 22, 1922 ? October 29, 2013

At the age of 91 years, Dad went peacefully on October 29, 2013, with Mary, his wife of 69 years by his bedside. Together they raised seven children and ran the family business of Bockstael & Daeninck Plastering Contractors. Dad was President of the Board for the Belgian Credit Union for 22 years, and ultimately became an Honorary Director. He also devoted countless hours volunteering with the Knights of Columbus, Belgian Sacred Heart Church, Holy Cross Church, and St. Timothy Parish. Dad was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all.

Leaving to continue his legacy are his children: Denis (Yvette), Lorraine (Claude) Comeault, Linda (Chris) Morassutti, Diane (Lou) Moniz, Pat (Gordon) Reagh, Leonard (Maureen), Cathy (Glen) Cook, 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, Dad?s brother Marcel (Louise) and his sister Irene (Sam) Lemoine.

Dad?s family values and his commitment to his wife and community have been an inspiration to us all. We will cherish Dad?s gentle and loving nature, and will forever miss his words of advice whenever we come across a fork in the road.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the thoughtful staff at the Victoria General Hospital. Both Mom and Dad were in the hospital at the same time and the hospital arranged for them to be in same room. We will never forget the picture of them holding hands across their hospital beds during Dad?s final days. God bless you, Dad.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to St. Timothy?s Parish, or Victoria General Hospital Foundation -Miracle Garden.

Prayers and Funeral Mass will be at St. Timothy?s Parish, 135 John Forsyth Road in Winnipeg. Prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2013 and the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2013 with reception following in St. Emile Parish Hall, 556 St. Anne?s Road.
