Obituary for Marlon Jose Chamorro-Gonzales

MARLON JOSE CHAMORRO-GONZALES
October 16, 1972 – June 10, 2021

Marlon Jose Chamorro-Gonzales also known as Nica, born October 1972, was originally from Nicaragua, Managua in South America. He made his way from his home country at the age of 15 with very few dollars in his pocket from his mother to escape, seeking a new and safe life, avoiding having to become a child soldier and fight in the Nicaraguan war. He travelled underground through the United States attempting to keep his promise to his mother, a place of safety.

Marlon made his home away from home in Winnipeg MB, at the age of 16. Little did he know he would find his first love in a new country two years after arriving in Canada and starting his family.

Marlon lived with good intentions for those around him, living to ensure those he loved was always provided for, even when he had very little to offer. He, as many people who arrive in a new country, struggled. Marlon was taken tragically from this world on June 10, 2021, leaving his imprint on those he loved and those who loved him.

He is survived by his mother, daughters, son in-laws, and grandchildren. They will continue his legacy and as he wished, to live life and to take care of oneself and one another.
