It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Jo-Jo – Jo Ann Marion Freund on May 3, 2022 with family by her side at the age of 82.
Jo Ann was predeceased by her mother Margaret, father James, husband Eldon and brothers Jim and Spencer.
Jo Ann was born on March 15, 1940 in Pilot Mound, Manitoba and was one of eight children. She grew up in the Norwood area of Winnipeg. She met Eldon and married in 1958. Jo Ann and Eldon enjoyed 51 years of marriage before his passing in 2009. Jo Ann worked for many years for both the Winnipeg Health Organization and St. Boniface Hospital retiring in 2003.
Jo Ann leaves to cherish her memory her children Cindy (John), Kerry, Belinda (Dave). Grandchildren Matthew, Megan, Jennifer, Clinton, Samantha Derek, Robyn, and 10 great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her sisters and brothers in-law Geri (Jim), Pat (Conrad), Wendy, Nancy and Donna.
Jo Ann enjoyed many years camping at Grand Beach with family and taking her grandkids to the beach. Jo Ann will be remembered by her quick wit and jokes at the dinner table appropriate or not! Jo Ann was always on board with any song, dance or performance with her sisters, cheering loud and proud for her beloved Toronto Maple Leafs. Most of all Jo Ann will be remembered for her love of her family and friends and always being there for anyone who needed it. Jo Ann provided her family with so many amazing memories that will forever live on in our hearts.
There will be no formal service: a private family interment will be held at a later date.
In Lieu of flowers, donation in Jo Ann’s memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
