Obituary for Marguerite Deserranno

Marguerite Deserranno

May 4, 1936 – January 10, 2015

Peacefully at home with her family at her side, Marguerite passed away after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Marguerite is survived by her beloved husband, Andre and would have celebrated 57 years of marriage with him a day after her passing. She is also survived by her son Kevin and wife Elaine, daughter Sharlene, grandchildren; Carly, Dana (Graham) and Rory, sisters Irene Ferley, Patricia (Murray) Goldenberg, brother Dennis (Dorothy) Johnson and their families. Marguerite was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Elsie Johnson and her brother–in-law Lorne Ferley.

Marguerite was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was happiest spending time with her family, cooking and baking, gardening and helping friends. She was a dedicated parishioner at St. Alphonsus Church volunteering with the Funeral Luncheon Committee, greeting at Sunday Mass and tending to the church flower gardens.

We would like to thank our family and friends for all of the support during this difficult time. The kind gestures and caring concern was most appreciated. Many thanks to Dr. Frederic Ball for his dedicated care and compassion and also our sincere thanks and appreciation to the St. Boniface Hospital Staff, the Palliative Care Program Team and the nurses who cared for Marguerite at home.

In keeping with Marguerite’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a mass celebrating her life will take place on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Church, 341 Munroe Ave. with Father Janusz Maron presiding.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Ave., Rm. ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or to a charity of your choice.
