Obituary for Margaret Ann "Pinky" Benoit

Margaret Ann (Pinky) Benoit

(nee Janzen)

May 13, 1944 – June 22, 2013

It is with great sadness and love, that we announce the passing of our beloved Pinky, after a hard fought battle with cancer. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 48 years, Doug; her children, Blaine, Carla (Les), and Kim (Doug); grandchildren, Kyle, Cody, Christi and Brendan; as well as beloved dogs Shadow and Reagan, and granddogs Daisy, Tessa, and Spike. Pinky was predeceased by parents, Margaret and John Janzen.

Pinky was born in 1944 in Gimli, Manitoba. She spent her early years in Vermillion Bay, Ontario. In her early teens, she moved to Winnipeg with her family where she met her husband Doug while attending Beliveau School. At age 17 she started working at Eaton?s and loved it. She then worked at her dad?s business, Janzen Brothers Excavators. In 1964, Doug and Pinky married. They started a family, at which time she focused on raising her children while working from the home, ?doing the books? for the family optical business until her final days.

In recent years, Pinky loved spending time camping with Doug and the dogs, as well as enjoyed gardening, and cooking.

Many thanks to CancerCare at St. Boniface Hospital, as well as the doctors, nurses, and home care individuals (especially Shelly) for the comfort and care they gave Pinky.

Cremation has taken place and a funeral service celebrating Pinky?s life will be held Friday, June 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St., Winnipeg.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Pinky to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, www.cancercare.mb.ca. Pinky will be sadly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
