Magdalena (Maggie) Johnson
(nee Anhorn)
March 21, 1934 – February 5, 2024
It is with heavy hearts and much sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother. She passed peacefully on February 5, 2024, at the age of 89 with family by her side.
She was predeceased by the love of her life, soulmate, husband Robert Johnson, her son Chester, son-in-law Ian de Voy, grandsons Neil and Travis, her parents John and Emma, brothers Adolph and Herbert and sister Amilia and brother-in-law James. Inlaws: John, Thordis, Herbert, Franklin, Runa, and Lynn.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children Jack (Donalda), April, Robert (Lucille), Neil (Alison), Gale (Ian). Her grandchildren Jeff (Melanie), Chris (Jody), Matthew (Brittney), Alicia, Brittney, Amanda (Jason), Nickolas (Mackenzie), Mackenzie (Larry), Curtis, Matthew (Jennifer), Coyle and Cohan. Her great-grandchildren Elena, Jasper, Jade, Hudson, Arya, Eden, Kane, Kaaliyah, Kylie, Kashton, Ellie and Ada. Close family friends Paulette and Gerard. Close cousins James (Marlys) and Mary Lou. Special nieces Gladys and Linda. Many dear nieces, nephews and friends.
Magdelana was born in Schuler, Alberta. The youngest of four children. She moved to Manitoba in 1952 and eventually resided in Winnipeg where she raised her family. In 1970 she started work at the Grace Hospital and retired in 1993. She was a beautiful, strong, dedicated, kind caring woman with a heart of gold. Her door was always open to anyone (of course it always came with a meal or snack). She was a member of the legion and enjoyed all their events especially bowling and the picnics. She loved going to bingo with family and friends and loved her gardens. Planted flowers in every spot available! But Mom’s biggest joy and ultimate love was her family. She would host a family dinner for any occasion she could think of. The more dinners the better! She spent her retirement years with her loving husband Robert, travelling and spending as much time as possible with their grandchildren. They brought her so much joy.
She was an angel who lived among us and now has returned to the God above.
We will miss you dearly mom, your love and memories will be forever alive in our hearts.
The family would like to thank the staff at Concordia Hospital for all their care and kindness.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place, and a family gathering will be held at a later date.
