Obituary for Louis Philippe Tetreault

LOUIS PHILIPPE TETREAULT

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Louis Philippe Tetreault, at the Grace Hospital on August 9, 2020, at the age of 93.
He was predeceased by his wife, Gladys (née Barlo) after 64 years of marriage. He will be deeply missed by many but especially by his two grand-nieces (Shelley Sager and Sherry Treichel) who attended to his daily ministrations as his health deteriorated.
Louis was born in St. Brieux Saskatchewan on December 22, 1926; one of Hormisdas and Eliza Tetreault’s eleven children. He attended Gravelbourg and Success Business Colleges. After a short stint as a teacher, he enjoyed a long and distinguished career with the Department of National Revenue and retired in 1989. Afterwards he worked as a volunteer tax preparer for 30 years.
His main leisure activities were golf, bridge, swimming and making the odd “friendly” wager on just about anything. He loved living downtown at the Kiwanis Chateau where he and Gladys enjoyed many friendships. It gave them indoor access to the YMCA pool, Winnipeg library and church; both were staunch supporters of St. Mary’s Cathedral.
He leaves to mourn many nieces and nephews who reside in various parts of Canada.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Louis’s life will take place at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 353 St. Mary Avenue, Winnipeg on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at 1:00 p.m.
Following the funeral, a private family entombment will take place at Living Waters Columbarium, St. Gianna Beretta Molla Roman Catholic Church, 15 Columbia Drive, Winnipeg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Grace Hospital Foundation or the Misericordia Health Centre Foundation.
The family invite friends to sign the online book of condolences at ejcoutu.ca.
