Obituary for Lillian "Lil" Gaudes

LILLIAN GAUDES

(nee Briercliffe)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lil Gaudes, our beloved mother, sister, and grandmother at the age of 82 on March 8, 2015 at the Charleswood Care Centre.

Lil was predeceased by her husband Tony (2005). Lil is lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her sisters Beth Hutton and Tee Somers; her three sons Jim, Derek and Grant (Janine); and grandchildren Brendan(16), Carter(12) and Parker(11).

Lil was born and raised in Methven, Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg in 1948. Lil and Tony were married in 1957 and enjoyed 46 years of matrimony. Lil was a devoted homemaker and took great pride in raising her three sons. She made sure her boys were always thought of with a phone call everyday. Lil maintained a sharp memory and could share countless details about the people that attended to her care over the past 10 years. Lil spent the past 3 years at the Charleswood Care Centre and forged many wonderful relationships with the staff and fellow residents. She had a heart of gold and loving soul and will be missed by all.

A funeral service celebrating Lillian’s life will be held Wednesday, March 18 at 1:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Home, 680 Archibald Street, with viewing one hour prior. A reception will be held at the funeral home following the service, and interment will take place at Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
