Obituary for Leon Adelard Joseph Morin

LEON ADELARD JOSEPH MORIN
March 2, 1938 – January 5, 2023

Leon passed away at Actionmarguerite St. Vital on January 5, 2023. He was a cherished father who enriched so many lives with his love, kindness and his open-door policy for all.

He was welcomed into heaven by his wife Yvette and son Mike along with his mother Ella and father Charles Morin, mother-in-law Cecilia and father-in-law Cyprien Labossiere, siblings and in-laws Mona and Leo Woods, Charlotte and Willy Kowalke, Andrea and Cliff Swenson, Romeo Hebert, Tony Morin, Marie and Bill McKenzie; Norma Trudel, Bella Bazin, Leo Nadeau, and Donat Labossiere. He will be happy to be reunited with them all. Leon will be lovingly remembered by his children and grandchildren, Carole Robidoux (Gil), Jeannette Morin-Kitkoski (Dean), Rheal Morin (Gaston), Jacquie Burgoyne (Roger), Suzie Morin (James), and Jackie Morin. Pepère loved his grandchildren Bobby (MJ), Kiki (Ryan), Dannie (Marc), Jayme (Amber), Meagan (Richard), Carter, Skyler and Carla (Jeff), great-grandchildren, Parker, Baylie, Joe, Lucy, Chloe, Hazel, baby Burgoyne, and Fletcher. He leaves to mourn Yvette Hebert, Lorraine and Rene Dousselaere, Andre and Laura Morin, and Rene and Lea Morin, Thérèse Nadeau, Maurice Trudel, Gisele and Marcel Durupt, Pauline Labossiere, Marc Bazin, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Leon was a hard-working jack-of-all-trades and entrepreneur who had many careers including construction and being a butcher. Leon was above all proud of his auctioneering business. His outgoing nature and love for people was always on display as he and his family provided auction services throughout the province. Leon was also a proud 4th Degree Knight of Columbus (St. Boniface Council)

Leon never did anything half hearted. One example of this was his desire to curl as much as possible, including enrolling in multiple bonspiels in the same weekend. Leon was a true cowboy who loved hunting, fishing, and horses. Nothing brought him more joy than to organize the annual May long weekend fishing trip where he brought family, friends and strays together for many memorable good times.

There was nothing more precious to Leo and Yvette than to open their home or cottage to family, friends and those who might otherwise be alone. If you were going to their cottage at Gull Lake, you knew there would always be room, regardless of how many people were already there. It was certain that you’d be surrounded by games, laughter, and lots of noise.

A big thank you to our angels on earth, Gisele, Marcel and Andrew who were along for the journey, as well as the amazing management and staff at Actionmarguerite St. Vital for their compassion, kindness, and support.

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!” — Hunter S. Thompson

A funeral mass will be held Monday, January 9th at 12:30 pm at St. Boniface Cathedrale. A joint celebration of life for Leo and Yvette will be held at a later date.
