Obituary as Published in Winnipeg Free Press, December 2021:

Lenore is lovingly remembered by her children Cathy and Dean, and her beloved grandchildren Ryan and Alanna; her sisters, Pat Glover, Rita Foley (Garrie), and brother Doug Foley (Janice), and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Helen and George Foley, brother John Foley, sister Geri Oakley and brothers-in-law, Ted Oakley and Alan Glover.

Lenore was raised in a large, close-knit Irish family where she graduated from Holy Cross School. She had a keen mind and was a hard worker, advancing to senior management at Service Canada, where she oversaw old age pension services, and other income assistance programs for seniors. She was happy to give advice to friends and acquaintances about their pensions. Her work took her to Ottawa where she was able to explore family roots in Canada in Pointe Gatineau and renew connections with extended family there. In her later years, she explored the other side of her family tree on a trip to Ireland with her sisters.

Family was everything to Lenore. She was a very dedicated mother who went to any lengths for her children, and was always willing to lend a hand, or an ear whenever needed. She routinely set her needs aside for her children and her parents and siblings, but she really excelled in the role of grandmother. She loved indulging her grandchildren with gifts, treats, and shopping trips. She cherished her summers at Victoria Beach where she regaled them with funny stories from her old days and unheard stories from her childhood. She was happiest when she filled the cottage with laughter.

Lenore taught us to live a life of humility, compassion, generosity, courage, determination and forgiveness. She was an incredible role model of balancing the responsibilities of raising kids, managing the demands of work, and helping with her own mother’s care, with a cheerful nature, a good sense of humour and hard work. Our lives will never be the same without her. We will be consoled by our memories until we meet again, as promised by our faith.

Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 23 at 11:00am at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
