Obituary for Kenneth Michael Benoit

Kenneth (Ken) Michael Benoit

January 25, 1954 – September 24, 2019

It is with great difficulty and sadness that we as a family must announce that Kenneth Michael Benoit has passed away at the age of 65.

Ken is survived by his partner of 36 years, Deborah Lillies; ‘son’ Keith Lillies; ‘daughter’ Tanya (Robbie) Shuturma; grandchildren, who were the world to him, his buddy Phoenix Shuturma and his peanut Déjà Shuturma; brother Randy (Michele) Benoit; nephew Bryce (Brittany) Benoit; niece Mackenzie Benoit; brothers and sisters-in-law, Shirley (Melville) Lillies, Thelma Nugent, Lenard (Anne) Phillips, Mic (Keri) Phillips, and many other relatives. He was predeceased by his dad, Aime (2005), mother, Germaine (2018) and brother-in-law, Gerry (2011).

Both at work and at play, cars, or any other motorized vehicle, were a huge part of Ken’s life. He had worked himself up to a managerial position at Killeen Auto Glass before venturing out on his own to start Benoit Auto Glass. He was a bonafide car guy having had more cars, trucks, motorcycles, skidoo’s and quads over the years than is possible to count. His car collection and MINI collectibles were admired and envied by many.

Many thanks to his CancerCare team, especially Dr. Czaykowski and Denise Klassen, staff at HSC, St. Boniface and Concordia hospitals, Home Care and Palliative Care for taking such good care of him the past four months.

In keeping with Ken’s wishes, a celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald Street.

In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Ken may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
