Katelyn Lee Mitchell
September 21, 1992 – May 22, 2020
It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce that Katelyn Lee Mitchell, beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend, left this world unexpectedly on Friday, May 22, 2020.
Kate will be deeply missed by her mother Marilyn Lee; sisters, Jamie Lee (Joel Forest), Sarah Mitchell, and Danielle Mitchell; grandmothers, Dorothy Turk and Enid Mitchell; nephew Damien Morrisseau; uncles and aunts, Mike Turk (Wendy Bowcott), Dave Turk (Caron Turk), and Mary Ann Mitchell and family; cousins, Ryan Turk and Shayne Turk; and all of her friends, especially Doris and Tasia at VIRN, Ann from CNIB, and best friend Erika.
Kate was predeceased by her father, Colin Mitchell; grandfathers, Allan Mitchell and Charles Turk; and uncles, Wayne Mitchell and Miles Mitchell.
Kate was known for her happy-go-lucky personality; she always had an enthusiastic smile to share. She strived to live courageously by example and hoped to be an inspiration to others. She found joy in volunteering at Craig Street Cats, writing her creative short stories, and making collages for everyone in the family for special occasions and birthdays. She loved to spend time with family, friends, and her pets: Keira, Hanna, Oliver, Kairo, Eli, Deniro, and Carly.
As we celebrate our best memories of Kate, we remember that life should always be lived to the fullest, as Kate lived hers, because it can be so fragile and fleeting.
We would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, especially Natalie in the ICU, for all the care and compassion that was provided. We also want to say a special thank you to Cory Tucker, who made life a little easier during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Craig Street Cats in memory of Kate.
Due to current restrictions on public gatherings, a celebration of Kate’s life will be held at a later date.
