Obituary for June Martha Lawrence (Seiler)

Humans are born to love and be loved. It is this quest that defines the story of June Lawrence’s life.
She lived, loved, worked, and passed. But the simplicity of this statement belies a life that was complicated and a woman who was fiercely independent, possessed amazing strength, perseverance, and resilience.

She was a very private person. The story of June’s life presented here is pieced together from conversations with people in her social circle, recollections shared by June and discoveries in cleaning up the collections of her life.

June experienced tragedy early in life with the death of her mother. She was sent to live with her grandparents, where she felt loved and safe in their home. Later she was moved back to her father’s home with his wife and their children. June left school before graduation for reasons unknown. These early childhood experiences influenced her thoughts, beliefs, and decisions for the rest of her life.

June found work and love in her life. She met the love of her life, Bill as a young woman. They married in 1973 and had many years of travel and adventure until Bill’s health declined. June was devoted to Bill and his care until his death in January 2021.

June worked hard all her life. She had a long career at Air Canada spanning 30 years, where she made lifelong friends. She was proud of her home, keeping it meticulously clean and tidy. June’s life was one of accomplishment, rising above adverse circumstances to create a life of belonging.

She cherished the people in her life. Every symbol of kindness, care or graciousness shown to her was valued and saved – cards and letters were neatly packaged and preserved; homemade crafts lovingly framed and displayed.

June was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2019. She showed resolve, courage and determination in her fight. Her love of gospel music, the words and the melodies helped her in finding peace. June passed away peacefully on January 7, 2022.
She will be forever in our hearts and missed by many of her family and friends.
