Obituary for Joseph Edward Kelly

Joseph Edward Kelly

It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of Joseph Kelly on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at the age of 93.

Joseph will always be loved and remembered by his two daughters, Jeannie (Gary) Ruczak and Nancy Sierhuis, his grandchildren, David (Anet), Trevor (Stephanie) and Amy (Adam) and great-grandchildren, Nina, Ben and Scott. He leaves behind his two brothers, Victor and Stanley Kominowski, his sister-in-law Mary (Mike) Stepic as well as nieces and nephews.

Joe was predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Rose; his two brothers, John and Walter, two sisters, Bernice and Mary, sister-in-law Helen Kominowski and brother-in-law Frank (Gaetane) DeVriendt.

Joseph was born in Poland and immigrated to Canada along with his parents when he was 3 years of age. He later served his country proudly during WWII and upon his return he learned plastering/stucco as his trade. He was dedicated to his trade and took great pride in his work.

Inspite of his age, Joe remained an active person up until his recent diagnosis of renal failure. His will to live was not deterred by his health condition.

Sincere thanks for the kind and compassionate care by the staff at Grace Hospital and the Renal Health Unit of St. Boniface Hospital.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Manitoba.

Funeral service honoring Joe’s life will be held on Thursday, December 12, at 11:00 a.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street. Burial will follow at Belgian Sacred Heart Cemetery.
