Obituary for John David Bruce Yule

It is with deepest sadness we announce the passing of our son, brother, partner, father and dear friend John. Peacefully & comfortably on August 2 with family and long-time friend Mike by his side, John passed away due to complications after a heart procedure.

Preceded by his father Daniel Yule and mother-in law Virginia Guiboche; John is survived by his mother Lillian Yule, sister Jacqueline (aka Jackie) Yule, son Bryson Yule, partner Tanya Guiboche, step children Kayla Dauphinais (Brian), Kaitlin Dauphinais (Asad), Colby Dauphinais, sister-in-law Kimberly Guiboche (Curtis Fieber), Thomas Guiboche, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins (all out of province), mostly in north eastern Ontario where many weeks of fun filled summer holidays were spent on our grandparent’s farm and a cottage on top of a section of Canadian Shield rock.

John was a dear friend to many and he cherished these friendships. The large network of friends John leaves behind, range from early childhood through high school, university and professional football career, adult rec leagues as well through his family business associates. A naturally gifted and decorated athlete in many disciplines, including football, hockey, soccer, basketball, and track & field. Always a team player on and off the field, John commented that these sports connections is where some of his lifelong friendships of decades were met. John had a stint with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, being part of the 1990 Grey Cup team, and the 1991 practice rooster.

John took over the management of the family business Yule Construction Safety Ltd. In 1991 (started by his parents in 1969) after the death of his father. He was hard-working, enjoyed being self-employed, and was committed, conscientious, and meticulous in his work for the road safety of construction crews and motorists. He genuinely enjoyed and was friendly with all his work contacts.

Johns passion for life, often brought him to the center of attention during social activities and gatherings. His signature laugh, as well as his dramatic enthusiasm would always enhance a moment or situation with his “bigger than life” presence. Even in the hospital, the nurses and staff enjoyed his pleasant personality commenting on his good sense of humor. Like all his life, he was friendly, brave and stoic in the hospital.

John enjoyed camping, beaches, pools, and excursions to friend’s cabins, wide open green spaces and trees. We always enjoyed a visit on the back deck under the shade of the trees. He was an avid reader all his life; always kept up with current news & events and enjoyed mental stimulation by spending time with his friends playing board, card, online & computer games.

His big heart and genuine compassion was evident to those who knew him best; and his easy smile and kind nature was known by casual acquaintances and all those he came across. John was an easy-going guy who valued family and friends most. He had a soft spot for children, animals, and always his dear, sweet loving mom.

In the deep sadness we feel with his loss, we can take comfort in the many fond memories of knowing him. We are thankful for the time we had with John. Love transcends time and space, and while we will miss John’s physical presence in this life, we still feel his warm and generous spirit and big heart. We take solace in the knowledge his spirit is still around, and we will meet again as he has passed on to eternal life in heaven. Because someone we love is in heaven, there is a little bit of heaven in our hearts.

On behalf of our grieving family and friends, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all who have offered so many kind memories and tributes in condolence.

The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses, and staff at St Boniface Hospital for the excellent care, comfort and kindness provided to John and the family. John was extremely complimentary and grateful for the first-rate care and wonderful team of health care providers at the hospital.

For those wishing to make a donation in John’s memory, any donations in Johns name may be made to St Boniface Hospital Cardiac Care.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday October 15, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the St Vital Mustangs Football Hall, located at 100 Frobisher Road (at St Mary’s Road & Perimeter).
