Obituary for Jayne Elaine Bouskill (Penner)

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Jayne Elaine Bouskill (nee Penner) of Winnipeg on May 19, 2022 at the age of 56. Jayne had been dealing with depression for many years and the disease finally overcame her personal battle.

Jayne will be lovingly remembered by her children Matthew Penner and Carly Bouskill, her partner Rob Depres and his son Bobby, Mother Helen Wiebe, Sisters Jacquie (Kent) Wotherspoon (nieces Kristyn and Janelle), Karen Bell (niece Gracie and nephew Kennedy), Michael (Erin) Penner (nieces Kailey and Maya) as well as many Aunt’s, Uncle’s and cousins. Jayne was predeceased by her father Edwin Penner and step-father Al Wiebe.

Jayne was born in Morden, Manitoba and lived for a brief time in Carmen before her family moved to Winnipeg. She was raised in the East Kildonan area attending a variety of schools including Munroe Junior High and graduating from Miles Macdonell Collegiate. She enjoyed athletics during those years excelling in gymnastics and volleyball.

Jayne’s work life focused on sales and service in a variety of roles, primarily in retail. She was a natural people person that genuinely enjoyed helping her clients from her earlier employment with Grandma Lee’s Bakery through to the Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries in later years.

A daughter, sister, mother, and aunt, she relished the time she spent with her family. Always a people person, nothing made Jayne happier than spending time with family and friends. She loved her children unconditionally and was exceptionally proud of everything they did. Her nieces and nephews always brought her great joy.

Jayne’s beautiful smile could light up a room and she loved to laugh. She was a compassionate individual and natural conversationalist. Jayne never hesitated to take the time to ensure a stranger was included in the discussion. More often than not, she was the first to volunteer to host a get together. She made every effort to ensure her guests were treated to tasty appetizers and a gourmet meal. There was never just one desert, she had to make 2 or 3 available to her guests in order for her to be happy. Never a pot, pan or dish was left untouched in the preparation of a Jayne dinner.

When she wasn’t baking or cooking, her time was most often spent with her plants, both indoors and outdoors. A gifted gardener, her home was filled with houseplants while her yard was filled with beautiful perennials and annuals in gardens and planters. The time and effort she put into this hobby was second to none.

Jayne was passionate about her pets. From Boo, Tigger and Cruzer to Gus and Bella, it might be difficult to find another pet owner that doted more on her animal friends. She made it another hobby to supply her pets with an extensive variety of treats and toys.

Although we may never be able to understand the inner pain she endured, we will remember her for the beautiful person she was. We will cherish the memory of her life and the joy that she brought to us while we were fortunate to have her in our lives. You will be missed Jayne!
