Obituary for IRENE BLANCHE MARIE ZASTE

IRENE BLANCHE MARIE ZASTE

(nee SALTEL)

March 26, 1925 – October 5, 2019

With heavy hearts, the family announces the passing of Irene on Saturday, October 5 after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Irene was predeceased by her loving husband Leo in 2013.

Left to mourn Irene’s death are her children Simone, Denis (Michelle) and grandchildren Danielle, Melissa (Aaron) and Chris. Irene is also survived by her brother Albert (Bernice), nieces and nephews.

Irene battled many obstacles in her life from growing up in the depression to many illnesses that she fought valiantly through.

She was a quiet, yet determined woman who wanted more than anything to live her entire life in her home which she accomplished.

Music had always been a big part of Irene’s life from playing for the troops during the war to becoming a music teacher. Music continued to bring comfort and joy to Irene until the end.

Irene was proud of her family and adored her grandchildren. There was nothing she loved more than family gatherings.

In accordance with Irene’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service.

In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire donations can be made in her memory to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 1160-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 0V9.
