Obituary for Hortense Green

Hortense Green

(nee Glemas)

August 12,1915 to December 9,2012

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Hortense Green on December 9, 2012 at Foyer Valade at the age of 97 years.

Hortense was predeceased by her husband, Jack, her brothers Auguste & Ben, and her sister Marie-Therese.

She will be lovingly remembered by her three sons, Tony (Dianne), Ted (Pat), and Ken (Lucy), her grandchildren, Roxanne, Jennifer, Karen, Chris, Brian, Jacquie, Joelle, and Melanie, her nine great-grandchildren, her very special niece, Rose, and many other nieces and nephews.

Mom was placed in an orphanage at 8 years of age along with her siblings and despite these very difficult years, her strength of character and determination grew so strong that she was able to build a great life with Jack and her family. They raised their sons in the Norwood/St. Boniface area where Mom was very much involved with community and sports activities. Mom was always very devoted to her family and to helping others.

We wish to thank all the wonderful staff at Foyer Valade for the special care that they provided.

In keeping with Mom?s wishes, cremation has taken place and a funeral mass celebrating her life will be held on Monday, December 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, 252 Dubuc Street.
