HELEN LAURA THOMAS

(nee LUTZ)

March 27, 1930 ? April 13, 2013

Mom passed away peacefully at Golden Links Lodge at the age of 83, with her family by her side.

Her absence will be deeply felt by her loving husband of more than 62 years, Joe; children Kathy Martina (Larry); Darlene Smith (Dave); Shelley (Rene) and Joe (Judy); grandchildren Jennifer (Ben), Jason (Elfie), Brian, Shelley (Darren), Sheryl and Jesse; great-grandchildren Madison, Myles, Lyla and Colton. She also leaves to mourn her sisters Lillian and Junette (Stu).

Mom was born and raised in St. Vital in a family of 10 children. At the age of 20, she married the love of her life Joe. She worked outside of the home occasionally throughout the years, but her main purpose was in raising her family. Every summer there was a family road trip to Thunder Bay to visit family. After retirement Mom & Dad made an annual trip to BC to visit family, as well as a few trips to Mexico. Mom & Dad spent every Saturday night for several years dancing the night away at St. Vital Legion. Mom loved to sing and dance. Mom was very talented at knitting, crocheting and needlepoint. Everyone in the family has some of her needlework. Mom spent the past four years at Golden Links Lodge where she was loved by the caregivers. She always had a big smile for everyone. We would like to thank the staff of Golden Links Lodge for their compassionate care. We love you Mom.

In keeping with mom?s wishes cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held.
