Obituary for Helen Lynn Procner

Helen was born and raised in North End Winnipeg.

Many friends will remember Helen from her attendance at St. John's High School where she joined the "Easter Bunny program" of the Naval Reserves of HMCS Chippewa. This opened up a whole new world of adventure and travel for Helen. Others will know her from her years as a Childcare Worker at the Churchill Health Centre's daycare in Churchill, Manitoba. Helen was very sociable, and wherever she was, she made lifelong friends.

Her beloved Maryland Street "Big Pink" house, owned with her youngest sister, Neda, became a home to many boarders and international students. Helen enjoyed all social gatherings; these ranged from her time in the reserves, through Churchill house parties, Legion Happy Hours, to traditional family dinners, potlucks and large Thanksgiving gatherings (fondly referred to as "Turkey" parties) at the "Big Pink" ... to name a few.

One of the most memorable of these was her "surprise ... not surprise" 60th birthday party at Lions Manor in 2017. Many stories were shared then. We look forward to your sharing even more stories on this page and at Helen's Celebration of Life on Saturday November 26, in Harvey Hall at Lions Manor 320 Sherbrook from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
