Helen Mary Dennehy


April 23, 1920 to June 13, 2012


Peacefully on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at River Park Gardens, Helen Mary Dennehy passed away at the age of 92 years. Helen was born in Winnipeg to Gerald Michael Dennehy of Cork, Ireland, and Helen Campbell (nee Penny) of Aberdeen, Scotland.


Helen was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Bill and Gerry, her sister, Geraldine, her nephews Shaun and John.


Helen is survived by her sister-in-law, Doreen, seven nieces and nephews, Michael (Gail) and Barbara of Winnipeg, Kerry (Ginny) of Vancouver, Timothy (Liz) of Calgary, Regan (Kim) of Australia, Clancy (Carolyn) of Vancouver, Darcy (David) of Halifax, and Susan (Shaun?s wife), as well as many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.


Helen received her education at St. Mary?s School and graduated from St. Mary?s Academy. She worked for many years for the CNR, rising to a management position in accounting.


Helen was a devout Catholic and an active member of the Catholic Women?s League for 57 years. She was independent, loyal and generous to her family and a person of high moral character. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge, gardening and travelling with her sister Geraldine, and her many friends.


In keeping with Helen?s wishes, cremation has taken place and a funeral mass celebrating her life will be held on Monday, June 18, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Memorial Church, 254 Arnold Street, Winnipeg with Reverend Father Boguslaw Wardzinski officiating. Service to terminate at the church.


The family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to the nurses and staff on the 2nd Floor of River Park Gardens for their devotion and compassionate care given to Helen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kelty Patrick Dennehy Foundation, P.O. Box 35, General Delivery, Whistler, B.C., V0N 1B0, or to a charity of their choice.
