Obituary for Hector Hermas Vincent

HECTOR VINCENT

Hector Vincent passed away suddenly, on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at 70 years of age. He leaves his son, Andrew (Clare), daughter, Melanie (Darcy), granddaughter, Rorrie, brothers, Albert (Anita), Maurice (Brenda), Jean-M (Ginette) and Yves (Johanne), sisters, Helene and Dorothee, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Alphonse, mother, Eugenie, brothers, Noel, Alcide and Marcel, sister, Agnes and brother-in-law, Roger.

Hector was born May 9, 1942, in Pine Falls, and he grew up on the family farm in St. Georges. He had a curiosity for the unknown, leaving the farm as a young man to start his career as a Store Manager with the Hudson?s Bay Company where he worked for 16 years in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. He then spent a couple of years at DW Friesen in Altona and later moved to Winnipeg where he worked for over 20 years with the Winnipeg Sun before spending a few years working as a building security guard in downtown Winnipeg. Hector thoroughly enjoyed his retirement, spending time with loved ones and regularly forwarding humorous emails to his friends. He cherished his time with his granddaughter, loved bringing people together and always looked to spread laughter at every opportunity. He was always up for a good-natured debate about politics and was never afraid of telling a bad joke if it might bring even the slightest of smiles.

We would like to thank the medical personnel at HSC and SBGH, the many friends and family who were there for Hector especially over the last few years, and the kind couple who remained with him whilst the paramedics arrived on Tuesday.

Friends and family are invited to join us in a remembrance and celebration of Hector’s life. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, March 5 at 7:00 p.m. with viewing one hour prior in Christ the King Church, 847 St. Mary?s Road. A memorial mass will commence on Wednesday, March 6 at 10:00 a.m. in the church.

Flowers are gratefully declined. If desired, a contribution to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.
