Obituary for Heather Joan Koniski (Brown)

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Heather Joan Brown-Koniski. Her parents John and Jackie Brown, her sister Gwen and her aunt Gloria preceded her in death, as well as her uncles, the brothers of her father John. At the age of eleven years old she was taken care of by her aunt Gloria and her husband Joe Yablonski.

Although Heather faced many struggles in her life, she was always smiling. Heather will be remembered for her infectious laugh and wicked sense of humour. She always saw the upside of everything no matter how bad the situation would have been. She was happiest when she was in the company of her cousin Cheryl. The two were inseperable. She will be immensely missed.

She was married for seven years to Ron Koniski, and unfortunately their marriage ended in divorce. She had many friends and acquaintances who made up for the loss of her immediate family. She treated everyone with kindness and respect.

Her passing was quite untimely as she was stricken with ALS. We wish to acknowledge all the people who who were involved in Heather’s care from an early age, be it the Community Mental Health Workers, the office of the Public Trustee, her medical and mental health care professionals, and lastly the wonderful staff at Concordia Hospital, who took care of Heather in the last month of her life.

Her memory lives on for her friends and extended family. She will be missed by the families of her late aunt Uldine and late uncle Robert Brown; and their late son Robert Jr. She will be sorely missed by Cheryl, Don, and Doug; Uncle Joe Yablonski who she called Dad; his children Gordon and Heather, along with their families who will also miss her. She is survived by her aunt Faye, along with her children and their families. We would like to acknowledge Art and Sue, whose late son had a beautiful relationship with Heather.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to E.J. Coutu in Winnipeg.
