Our Dad lived an amazing life, devoted to his wife and family. No matter what challenges he faced, he always managed to find creative solutions to life’s problems. Dad was so patient and never complained, always seeing the bright side of things. He was meek, humble, and had a huge heart for helping others, whether it was his family, his neighbors, or in the community.

He worked hard in construction for 45 years, as a yard foreman and he never missed a day. During retirement, he volunteered with Meals on Wheels for 12 years, earning the Helping Hand Award for outstanding volunteer effort. He was a foodie and loved his sweets, and his homemade cookies and apple crisp were so delicious!

Dad, we will miss your presence, your quiet mind and your perseverance. You were a man of great faith, who taught us unconditional love, hope and peace. You were a true leader and you taught us by your example.

March on, Dad!
You have fought the good fight;
You have finished the race;
You have kept the faith.

The family wishes to thank all the home care workers who cared for Gilles and the staff at Deer Lodge Centre Tower 6 for their compassionate care. We would also like to thank Dr. Kevin Coates for his many years of care and Physician Assistant Ryan Szajkowski and Dr. David Hochman.
