Obituary for Gail Stuart (Henson)

.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gail Stuart on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the age of 81 years at Luther Home in Winnipeg with family by her side.

Gail is survived and will be missed by daughter Melony Bennett (Todd); sons Jamie (Barb), Bob (Sheri), Tim (Valerie); eight granddaughters: Michelle, Melissa, Meagan, Taryn, Madison, Kaitlin, Alyssa and Kiana as well as eight great-grandchildren; her sisters Winnie Jackson and Arlene Moore and many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Gail was predeceased by her husband Melvin in 2012, her sister Margaret and brother Reg.

Gail was born on February 23, 1943, and lived in Brandon, Sarnia, and Winnipeg. Gail worked in the food service industry as a cook and manager. She spent the last years of her career working in Kildonan Park and Rainbow Stage making sure things were running smoothly while enjoying the interesting moments working with the public can bring.

Mom was our rock. She kept us together through good times and tough times. No matter what, she was going to do whatever she could to make sure there was a solid foundation that we could all stand on.
Mom’s most endearing quality was her outspokenness. Everyone loved that about her. If she had an opinion, she would certainly let you know what she was thinking. You couldn’t help but smile when she was keeping you up to date about everything that was going on with everyone.

Mom loved and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Every visit always began with her asking what was going on in their lives. How’s school? How’s work? What are their plans? She loved to hear all the details. And they loved her! Always smiling and laughing as they hung on every word she said and thought she expressed.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Luther Home for the special care, compassion and support given to our mother and our family during the last year. In keeping with Gail's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service was held in her honour.

Mom, we love you and miss you so much. You are with Dad now, take care of each other on your journey. You are both in our hearts forever.
