Obituary for Gail Ann Pilek (Gardiner)

GAIL ANN PILEK
(nee Gardiner)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gail Ann Pilek (Gardiner), on February 12, 2021 at her home, surrounded by family. She was predeceased by her mother Dorothy and mother-in-law Gerry and sister-in-law Brenda. She is survived by her loving husband Jaimie of 34 years; her children, Christopher (Tanya), Sydney (Devon); her grandchildren, Connolly and Blake. She also leaves to mourn, her father William and father-in-law Edward; brothers, Bill (Sandy), John, Darcy; brothers-in-law Bob (Gayle), Kenton (Angie); sisters-in-law Karen (Bob), Lynn, as well as many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

Gail was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She grew up in Windsor Park and moved a short distance to St. Boniface after marrying her husband Jaimie in the blizzard of 1986 (the wedding had to be postponed two days). Her family grew in 1988 and again in 1993 with the births of her son Christopher and daughter Sydney. Being a mom was her proudest accomplishment.

Her two grandchildren Connolly and Blake were the loves of her life in her last years. There is nothing she wouldn’t have done or given for them.

Gail loved to spend her summers at Toniata campground on Falcon Lake with her family, sitting around a fire with a beer, laughing with Jaimie and friends. It is here where she felt most comfortable.

Gail will be remembered as a loving wife, the most incredible mother and grandmother, and the sweetest and kindest friend. Gail was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1994, and despite this she had the most positive attitude. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Kredentser for all the care she provided to Gail over the years, and a special thanks to Miriam for not only providing home care to her, but providing her a friendship that was very dear to Gail’s heart.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MS Society or Siloam Mission and a celebration of life will be planned at a later date in the summer.
