Obituary for Gail Edith McIvor (Fischer)

Gail Edith McIvor

It's with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Gail Edith McIvor. She passed away peacefully at St. Boniface with her family by her side December 7th 2022 after a short bout with cancer.

She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Audrey Fischer, brothers Fred and Darwin (Sharon). She is survived by her brother Brian (Nic) and Sons Collin, Darwin, Kevin (BB) Trevor (Liz) and grandchildren Daniel (Alona) Kasia (Corbin) Brendan and Lauren (Blair) and many nieces and nephews.

Anyone who was lucky enough to cross paths with this passionately caring woman would see how she deeply cared for her loved ones. she was incredibly brave and always knew what she wanted. She loved to converse with anyone who would listen and wasn't shy to spread her warm glow to others. She was very "matter of fact" and always provided insight and her guidance when needed. Gail had a heart of gold and was always there to listen, analyze and try to help with all of life's hurdles.

She worked a full and successful career in healthcare as a rehabilitation assistant. She always showed a keen interest in the topic and a desire to constantly learn more right up to her final days. She's a testament to education and bettering yourself. She really loved her job and helping people.

After retirement she volunteered at a school to reach out and see the joy children bring to the world. She was involved in all sorts of committees and was very involved in her condo complex. She loved gardening and had a green thumb. She always pronounced her love for the tree she watched grow up outside her balcony, it brought her great joy.

Gail was full of love and always wanted her family to be together. She was fiercely independent and always had a rock-solid grip on life. Gail was such a huge part of her family’s life that her void will never be filled. She was incredibly loved and showed her love to those that mattered the most. She's not for this world now and she's gone, but she will never ever be forgotten. "Straight ahead or forward"

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to CancerCare Manitoba.

A celebration of Gail’s life will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023 (time – to be determined) in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street.
