Obituary for Francisco Fajardo Segura
FRANCISCO (FRANK) SEGURA
February 28, 1933 – October 3, 2021
It is with profound sadness the family announces the passing of Frank, on October 3, 2021, at the Health Sciences Centre, at the age of 88.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Isabel, his son Frank (Val), his daughter Susana (Rolando) and his grandchildren Elizabeth (Justin), Franky (Amber), Alicia (Isaac), Cameron (Courtney), Anders, and Quetzali, and one great-grandchild Jaala, with another on the way.
In his youth in Spain, Frank was a paratrooper in the army, and studied to become a lead-hand Machinist. After immigrating to Canada in his early 30's with his young son, also Frank, he met his wife, Isabel, while on vacation back in Spain and so started to grow his Canadian family.
Frank and Isabel were consummate dancers and spent many nights at dinner and dancing with friends. The floor would open up and everyone would watch them dance. They travelled the world covering all of North America by car, as well as Spain and Australia, and were only shy 8 months of their 50th wedding anniversary when Frank passed.
Frank was a scholar, and he loved reading, history and the natural sciences in particular, and he loved animals, the Winnipeg Humane Society being one of his favourite charities.
He was a happy man, and his joking and infectious laugh at gatherings were renowned. He was charismatic, intelligent, and articulate, and everyone who spoke with him was left with an impression.
He will be sorely missed.
Cremation has taken place and due to Covid restrictions, a private family service has been held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank’s memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
