Obituary for Franca Albanese

FRANCA ALBANESE

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, grandmother, aunt and sister, Franca Albanese, on Sunday, December 14, 2014.

Franca was predeceased by her parents, parents-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and a brother-in-law. She leaves to mourn her loving husband of 53 years, Antonio, daughter, Rosa (Shawn) of Portage la Prairie, son, Aldo and granddaughters, Izabella and Angelina of Winnipeg, brothers Ferruccio, Sergio (Margherita) and Bruno of Vicenza, Italy, brothers-in-law Michele (Grazia) and Rocco of Winnipeg, sisters-in-law, Giuseppina Lorianni, Giovanna (Aldo) Degola and Maria Pizzo all of Italy, plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Franca moved with her family from Italy to Winnipeg in 1965. They worked very hard and in five short years purchased their first and only home. In her younger years Franca loved to cook, bake and garden. She loved to bake her famous birthday cake not only for her children but also for her nieces and nephews. Unfortunately illness these last few years slowed her right down and she was not able to do many of the things she loved.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue with condolences starting at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in the Queen of Heaven Mausoleum in Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Franca may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
