Obituary for Ezra Jakob Kier Gzebb

EZRA JAKOB KIER GZEBB

December 20, 1995 ? February 7, 2013

Peacefully with his Mommies by his side, our sweet Ezra passed away at the Children?s Hospital of Winnipeg.

A happy, joyful spirit who enjoyed his time spent with family, friends and caregivers, Ezra truly loved swimming in the pool with Dana, long hot baths, listening to music, and going for walks on sunny days with his little brother Micah that would stir a beaming smile of contentment and big sparkling blue eyes that radiated his happiness. While he never spoke a word, Ezra taught us all so much about what is really important in life ? unconditional love, patience, compassion and empathy. While we knew that Ezra?s life would be foreshortened, we were very blessed to have had 17 wonderful years with him.

He will forever be remembered for his gentle soul and contagious smile.

In addition to his many friends and caregivers, Ezra will be greatly missed by his two families who loved him so ? Mom Danielle, Dad Adam, little brothers Micah and Sacha, and little sister Milla, as well as his dedicated foster family the McFarlane?s – Mom Dana, Dad Blaine, little brother Lucas and little sister Kate.

Ezra was predeceased by his grandfather Gary Gzebb.

A very special thank you to Children?s Hospital Emergency and CH4 staff, especially Rob, Mark, Neil, Jacquie and Barb – whom over the years have become a special part of our family. Thank you to the Pediatric Palliative Care Program team, Erin, Dave, Chris and Bruce ? thank you for everything you did for Ezra and our families over the last year, we are forever grateful. Thank you to our social workers Michelle, Melodie, Manny, Tracy and Lori. Thank you to Drs. F. Booth, R. Soni, S. Mackenzie, M. Kesselman, and J. Grabowski, as well as the staff at the Variety Children?s Heart Centre who have been with us since the day Ezra was born. Thank you to our friends and caregivers at St. Amant Centre 2 East, St. Amant School teachers and support staff, respite providers and last, but not least – our early years friends from Rehab Centre for Children ? Allison, Pam, Pat and Bernie. You are all very wonderful people who have dedicated your lives to doing wonderful things for children with life limiting illness and children with developmental disabilities.

In lieu of flowers, please donate generously to the Children?s Wish Foundation, Children?s Hospital Foundation or St. Amant Centre.

Cremation has taken place. A service in celebration of Ezra?s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19th in the Chapel at St. Amant Centre, 440 River Road, Winnipeg. Reception to follow.
