Growing up in large farm family, Dad understood quickly the value of hard work and the art of communication. As child #7 of 13 he got into all sorts of wholesome trouble with his siblings. But the way he told it, spent most of his childhood walking to and from school!
He was always a jokester and prankster. Quite the dog whisperer; he trained his dog Skipper to climb a ladder.

Dad met Mom at a dance in Fannystelle while in attendance with his BFF Leopold. Before you knew it, they were married and moved to the big city where they raised their family of 4. Many a summers were spent camping at St. Malo and Stephenfield, with road trips to Bemidji, Banff and Flin Flon. Later travels took him and Mom to Jamaica, Vegas, Hawaii, Florida, and Mexico.

He spent his career working for Pre-Con Construction, retiring after almost 50 years of dedicated service. He loved going to work and only retired at age 70 because of health issues.

He was a lifelong Yankees fan, and an avid Jets, Goldeyes and Bomber fan. He was also a patron of the Winnipeg Symphony.

His joie de vivre and love of music saw him as a regular at Le Festival du Voyageur where you’d find him and Mom in La Cabane à Sucre getting caught up with many kin over a Caribou and tourtière.

Some of his favorite pastimes included riding his bike through the St. B golf course in search of golf balls, golfing, and tinkering in his garage. He was always up for a game of cards or a round of bola ball at the lake.

He loved spending time with his family especially the grand and great-grand kids, teasing and high-fiving them!

Dad was never one to pass up on a meal invite and truly had the most amazing appetite.
He was a sharp dresser and as mom would attest, spent way more time than her getting gussied up for any outing.

Dad’s easy going nature and understated sense of humor made him such a joy to be around. He was just so chill, except of course when lost in a strange city and heaven forbid he’d stop to ask for directions!

Despite multiple cancer diagnoses, he never complained and always made the best of the situation. His stoicism was quite remarkable and something to be revered.

The family is eternally grateful for the wonderful care provided by the palliative care team during the last 6 months of life. Because of them, he was able to remain in his home.

Dad, Pep, Sweetheart; you were a gift from Heaven and we are so very lucky that God chose you to be our patriarch. We will forever carry with us your life lessons and cherish the wonderful memories we shared as a family.

Sleep well our angel.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Église Precieux-Sang, 200 rue Kenny on
Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 11:00 am. The family respectively requests that masks be worn
for the safety of all.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
